Date Formatting Help RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings -

I have a cell (M5) that I am trying to force a date into. I have set the formatting of the cell to the date format of mm/dd/yyyy. Works great until someone types "ASAP" into the cell. is there a way when a cell is date formatted to only allow numbers to be entered into the cell and no text?

Answers

  • Select the cell.

On the Data tab of the ribbon, click Data Validation.

Select Date from the Allow dropdown.

Specify an acceptable date range using the Data dropdown and the text box(es) below.

Activate the Error Alert tab, and provide an appropriate error message to be shown if the user doesn't enter a valid date.

    Click OK.
