Need clarity on Visual Studio Premium with MSDN ALNG license RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am not sure if I am in right forum. If not please help me to move it to the right forum.

My organization has a Visual Studio Premium with MSDN ALNG license. I am not able to understand what ALNG mean here. Is it something to do with single language or multiple language support?

Or it is about features. I have gone through and other sites but not able to find it out.

  • It sounds like that's the name of a SKU Lingaraj, not a license.  First, remember an MSDN License is for a single user, not an entire organization.

if its the name of a SKU, then ALNG would refer to "all languages."  S its not about support, or what languages are supported, its just what languages are included.

Historically the subscription was primarily provided on CD and/or DVD, so the languages of the product were an important choice for ucstomers.  If you wanted english, you got 5 DVDs.  if you wanted all languages, you got 60 DVDs so what languages a customer wanted was a pretty important decision.  The SKU names were listed by languages included to help make that choice easier for customers.  Nowadays, we have download only SKUs, and since all languages are available for download, the download skus indicate that they include all languages.

I'm pretty sure this is what you're seeing, but I dont have access to a current SKU list.  If you're really concerned about this, contact MSDN Customer Service, and they should be able to confirm for you.  Their contact information is posted here:
