If my C# .NET addin targets x86, will it run on 64bit machines with 32bit office? RRS feed

  • I need to know whether the bitness of Windows or the bitness of Office determines the bitness of your .net addin.  I don't currently have a 64bit machine to test.

    As far as I know, we can build Office add-ins for any CPU, so that we can deploy on both 64bit machines and 32bit mechines.

    And we recommend the 32-bit version of Office, because it is more compatible with most other applications, especially third-party add-ins. This is why the 32-bit version of Office 2013 is installed by default, even on 64-bit Windows operating systems.
