SqlGeography.STIntersects returns NULL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it normal that STIntersects returns sometimes NULL (probably for larger SqlGeography objects) for self-intersection tests:

    SELECT [Geography].STIntersects([Geography]) FROM StatesGeography

If I convert SqlGeography into SqlGeometry (the same srid and point coords) then everything works fine as expected. Self-intersection always returns true.

    Thank you.

  • A first chance exception of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Types.GLArgumentException' occurred in Microsoft.SqlServer.Types.dll

Additional information: 24205: The specified input does not represent a valid geography instance because it exceeds a single hemisphere. Each geography instance must fit inside a single hemisphere. A common reason for this error is that a polygon has the wrong ring orientation.
