Setting Drivercompletion using ODBCConnection class RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm in the process of porting an old utility from VB6 that uses a C++ COM DLL to connect to a database to  query schema information using the ODBC API.

Using the utlity in VB6 I can connect to the datasource by just specifying the ODBC DSN name and the driver prompts me for a user ID and password if required. This is done  by setting the DriverCompletion property of the SQLDriverConnect function to SQL_DRIVER_COMPLETE.

Is there any way I can get the same behaviour using the ODBCConnection class in ADO.NET? Or do I have to resort to using the ODBC API directly as I did in the VB6 application I am replacing?

  • Sorry, OdbcConnection explictly uses SQL_DRIVER_NOPROMPT.
