  • Question

  • Hi, I am working in SharePoint 2013 on-premise server.

    I couldn't open External Content Types in SharePoint designer.

    The below error is coming.

    I already configured BDC connection through central admin.

    How to solve this. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi

    Before any changes , take a backup of your env and of your web.config file separately as well

    to get more details about the error, set as true in web.config

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/27922306-66bb-40dc-82e5-83de9b6310a8/how-to-turn-on-includeexceptiondetailinfault-for-sharepoint-error?forum=sharepointadminprevious

    Before that, I recommend you to check if your BDC is correctly configured in CA ( from alpha to omega )

  • I try to add  <serviceDebug IncludeExceptionDetailInFault="true" /> in below code (web.config) file in Sharepoint web services. My SharePoint web site can't be loaded. I don't know how to enable or turn on trace for it.

     <behaviors>

          <serviceBehaviors>
            <behavior name="SecurityTokenServiceBehavior" >

              <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" />
              <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="65536" maxConcurrentSessions="65536" maxConcurrentInstances="65536" />

            </behavior>
            <behavior name="ApplicationSecurityTokenServiceBehavior" >
              <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="false" httpsGetEnabled="false" />
              <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="65536" maxConcurrentSessions="65536" maxConcurrentInstances="65536" />

            </behavior>
          </serviceBehaviors>
        </behaviors>

  • Hi,

    Confirm the BCSservice started.

    Enable SharePoint detail error also.

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/voyage/2014/09/02/enable-debugging-and-set-custom-errors-off-in-sharepoint/

    Try to check the errors based on error message and check ULS logs.

    ULS log default path:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

    Best Regards,

    Lee
