Exchange 2010 Disable OWA but leave Active Sync enabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

This is in planning stage and has not been implemented yet.

Goal: To be able to disable mail access quickly for over 200 users. While leaving Mail access and Active Sync working for small number of users.

    Server Exchange 2010 or 2013.

What I was thinking is that they could use IE to connect to OWA and this could be disable when they no longer need email. Yet disabling OWA will disable Active Sync so I am trying to find a solution where you can just stop access to OWA.

    Anyone got any ideas.

  • You can use Set-CasMailbox to enable\disable OWA and or ActiveSync http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125264.aspx individually. If you do it this way disabling OWA won't affect ActiveSync.

  • Hi Glen,

    Thanks for your responce.

So you would have to run this against every user.

I take it i could write a script the would get users from X ou and pipe the results to the set-casmailbox command.

This would effectivly allow a users to run one command and enable disable OWA for a large number of users.
