  • No. Windows Phone 8 apps use Silverlight, not (primarily) the Windows Runtime.

Universal apps are new to Windows and Windows Phone 8.1

  • Hi Team,

So we need to create then separate for window 8 phone and tablet?

I have seen the following while googling

create a new 8.1 project and remove the following lines from the .csproj file:
    <TargetPlatformVersion>8.1</TargetPlatformVersion>
    <MinimumVisualStudioVersion>12</MinimumVisualStudioVersion>

Reopen the file and voila - it's a Windows 8 project!

  • You need separate projects with separate source code for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

You can share the data layer with a PCL or linked files, but the UI will use different code.
