  • Our Backup vendor, Acronis, recommended that we install their backup agent software on one of our Hyper-V virtual machines.  During the middle of the software installation process, the VM Blue screened with a 0x0000007B and went into a cyclical reboot.

To solve this issue, I booted to a physical Windows Server 2003 C:

    1.  Turn off VM

    2.  In Hyper-V Manager, R-click on VM and choose Settings

    3.  Choose BIOS and move 'CD' the the top of the boot order.

    4.  Under the VMs CD or DVD drive choose 'Physical CD/DVD drive' and choose your Hyper-V host's CD drive letter.

    5.  Click OK. Insert the Windows Server 2003 CD in the Hyper-V host's CD drive and restart the VM

then I followed this article to access the recovery console:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326215

Once at the recovery console I entered the command fixmbr and rebooted the VM.

    The VM booted.
