Turn a Windows Embedded 8.1 ThinClient to a seamless RDS VDI Connector RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

we are new to Windows Embedded System and want to know if there is a way to turn our new HP t620 Thin Clients with Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Enterprise (SA) into clean Remote Connection Machines in a Microsoft RDS VDI Deployment. We are using Windows Server 2012 R2 as Connection Broker, Web Access and Gateway. VDI Machines are Windows 8.1 Enterprise. On the user side, there are the HP t620 ThinClients.

We want the usability for the users as seamless as possible. So the user should log in on the Thin Client and automatically gets his VDI Machine via RDP. When the user logs off, restarts or shut down the VDI OS, the Thin Client should do the same.

We already do some experiments with the lockdown Manager and the Shell launcher with mstsc.exe and the signed RDP file from the RDS Web Access Web Site, but the behaviour is not as expected.

Is it possible to get the desired functionality with MS Tools? Are there any Whitepapers for such a Scenario?

    Thank you

    Chris

  • Did you ever create a solution like you hoped? Im starting my testing with 10zig WES 8.1 and RDS and am hoping to make a similar experience for my end users.
