  • It's not possible to submit templates directly as apps to the Office Store. However, it is possible to deliver templates to users as part of an app's functionality. For example, an app for keeping track of a user's movie preferences could let the user download an Excel template custom-designed for creating lists of movies.

  • There are a few ways to host templates:

    - Package them as content types within a SharePoint app (that way the user gets the option to "create new <my content type>" in their document library after they install the app

    - Host the template on your website or a file share - the user would then click to open from the site and "save as" to their default storage. If the site is in the user's internet zone than they'll be prompted to approve starting of any apps

    - Push the template out to the user's default personal template directory (as defined in File/Options/Save and in Trust Center, Trusted Locations)

Right now as Michael point's out we don't have a pipeline for submitting templates to our locations.
