Change the sound for a Toast Notification? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to change the sound for a Toast Notification which is being triggered by a Periodic Background Agent.  Can I do that programmatically... somehow?... there is no property for that.  However, I don't even see a place where the User can go into the phone settings to change that default sound.

  • It is not a user- or app-customizable sound.

That's for Windows 8, not Windows Phone.

  • You can change the notification sound in Windows Phone 8 and 8.1. Has anyone learned how to do this from the application yet? I know the app can ship with the sound and set the notification for the user and the user can change the notification sound to anything they like also. I am eager to learn how to do this for the user as I would like to have my app updated with a custom notification sound on initial install.

  • If you're using a Silverlight app with MPN (ShellToast), see Using custom sounds in toasts on Windows Phone 8 Update 3.

If you're using WNS (ToastNotification, both Silverlight and WinRT can use this), see The toast audio options catalog.
