  • How did you embed the bitmap? Did you clone the shell and #define'd USE_STARTMENU_BITMAP?

  • Yes. By defining "USE_STARTMENU_BITMAP" at stmenu.cpp.

  • You may want to answer Luca's questions (there were more than one) before you wait for too long.   He also asked if you cloned the shell, and that was a very important question.

  • That would leave me wondering if your change was even built.   If I were you I would check timestamps on obj and lib files.

  • If you did not clone the shell, a simple method to change the banner is to place the banner graphic file to the BSP's "Platform\<BSP name>\Files" directory and rebuild the project.  The banner graphic file is copied to the build release directory and overwritten the default file during the build process.

  • update the registry entry and rebuild the image

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop]

                    "wallpaper"=”<\\Windows\\WindowsCE.bmp”
    This is set in Common.reg, so you can override it in your Platform.reg or Project.reg.

  • The poster is not referring to the wallpaper, he is referring to the vertical "Windows CE" banner on the left side of the start menu.

    Good luck,
