instrument binary using C# RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.

I am looking out for a way to instrument binaries using C#. As per my knowledge the most popular way is to invoke command line utility vsinstr .
I am looking for a native .Net class/library that can be directly utilized from C# code mainly for code coverage analysis.

Also any suggestions on how to best perform binary instrumentation in bulk is welcomed as I am not very familiar with this.

    Thanks

After talking with VSTS team, and based on my knowledge, there is no .Net class/library mainly for code coverage. The code coverage tools in Visual Studio have existed since 2005 in the Team Developer and Tester Tools -> Code Analysis Tools in Visual Studio Team System 2008 installation.

Both are tools without any class or library. Please also refer to https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms182534(v=vs.100).aspx

    Have a nice day!
