  • Question

  • Hi,

I have created batch file to run uwfmgr application in order to protect some of files and folder.

    Ex:-

    uwfmgr filter enable
    uwfmgr volume protect c:
    uwfmgr overlay set-size 1000
    uwfmgr file add-exclusion "c:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE"
    uwfmgr file add-exclusion "c:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE.LOG"

After running my batch file after installing my developed application then batch file is throwing below error

Error: To change overlay maximum size, you must first disable the filter and restart (Access is denied.)

Any one face this kind error if yes, please let me know how to fix it.

  • First, change the order of the commands and make uwfmgr filter enable the last step.

Second, you are opening up file exclusions on the registry files, which is not recommended. If there are registry keys to be preserved, then set those up individually using a registry exclusion. Otherwise you might want to forgo using UWF.
