Restart processing of files in "forbidden" folders RRS feed

  • Question

  • Consider this scenario:

    1. The app declares that it uses the Documents folder.
    2. Using the save-as file picker, the user selects a folder that is not the Documents library.
    3. The app begins processing output using the StorageFile object returned by the file picker. This works because, I assume, the user (not the app) selected the folder.
    4. Before processing is finished, the app gets suspended and saves state information, including the output folder and file name.
    5. The app is subseqently terminated.

Given that the app cannot create a StorageFile object using the saved folder/file name (because it's not in Documents), how can it resume processing when it restarts?

Or am I misunderstanding something about how this all works?
