Custom Defined View(s) in MDS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to create a custom view that pulls multiple tables in MDS together and only pulls record based on a very specific value.

    Example:

I have 3 divisions, I need to pull together the rules, critieria, execution records from said 3 tables for each division so each division can call the view to get back only the data they need.  No UI type manipulation, strictly being used for informational purposes.

Am I able to add a custom view or custom created schema and view to the out of the box MDS database on the back end?

Or do I have to do this outside of the MDS database with a linked server or database connection?

Thank you for any help you can provide,

    Heather S

  • Hi Heather,

we normally use a separate database within the same instance (and a dedicated database project) for our custom objects. However, it should be OK to use the usr schema in the MDS database if there are only a few objects you want to create.
