There are several improvements for Timer Jobs - new UI to see jobs by status, you can change the time when jobs starts and run it immediately.
And there are 21 new jobs.
I just posted Timer Jobs changes overview there http://sharepoint-sandbox.com/index.php?/SharePoint-2010/Central-Administration/sp2010-timer-jobs-overview.html?directory=14

Thanks for the information Michael - most helpful - one of the pains in SharePoint 2007 has always been the difficulty in diagnosing issues with timer jobs, and the changes made in this area for SharePoint 2010 will make things significantly easier. I assume there will still be provision in this area to manage and make detailed changes to timer jobs with the use of Powershell scripts?Monday, October 26, 2009 11:42 AM

yep, the full control over the Timer Jobs is supported by PowerShell cmdlets (consider as a replacement to STSADM)

Thanks.

In 2010 you have the ability to specify a dedicated server for Timer Jobs in addition to the aforementioned features you also have status bars available in the UI that represent the progress of a particular job. Timer Jobs are covered in native backup and restore as well.
