  • Is there any ability to use Xml-mapping instead of attribute-mapping using LINQ to SQL designer.

  • The designer does not support generating the xml-mapping (.map) file, it only does code-gen with embedded mapping attributes.  However, you can run SQLMetal on the DBML file to produce the xml-mapping file (and even re-code-gen the entities w/o the attributes if you want.)

  • You can use dbml file wich is XML and its used as an input to generate .cs files. Use SQLMetal to generate dbml and than loaded it up when you create data context.
