  • For example, with ISBN for "Programming Windows" =>

  • Unless someone here has done this you best bet is to look at a Java sample and work through the code transposing to VB.NET, also note from what I've notice there are no C# examples in the docs for finding by ISBN not done in windows form apps.

    Along with Karens quoted post there is a free edition Java to VB Converter at Tangible which will be limited in the amount of code it will convert, possibly 100 lines at a time or less.

    You can also use Telerik to convert C# to VB.Net and here is a C# article Google Book Search in C#: A step by step walk-through tutorial.

    I've seen other links that use JSON to do this but did not post them.

    Below is the untested converted (and supposedly corrected from the responses at the bottom of the link) code from the link. I don't know Async/Await so I don't know if the code is correct or not.

    It would be helpful if you already have experience with the API but just don't know how to search via ISBN. If you haven't used the API at all then this is not the Forum for Google API's.

    Private Shared API_KEY As String = MyAPIKey

    Public Shared service As BooksService = New BooksService(New BaseClientService.Initializer()) With {.ApplicationName = , .ApiKey = API_KEY}

    Public Shared Async Function SearchISBN(ByVal isbn As String) As Task
        MessageBox.Show(Executing, a, book, search, request)
        ISBN
        While
         End While

        Dim result = Await service.Volumes.List(isbn).ExecuteAsync()
        If result IsNot Nothing AndAlso result.Items IsNot Nothing Then
            Dim item = result.Items.FirstOrDefault()
            Return item
        End If

        Return Nothing
    End Function

    Private Async Sub CheckISBN_Click_1(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
        Dim isbn As String = textBox1.Text
        Dim output = Await SearchISBN(isbn)
        Dim result = output.Result
        MessageBox.Show(result.VolumeInfo.Title)
        MessageBox.Show(result.VolumeInfo.Authors.FirstOrDefault())
        MessageBox.Show(result.VolumeInfo.Publisher)
    End Sub

  • Your title says "Google Books API" but your question does not.
