  • Hey iNCv3,

If your computer meets the conditions given in Marilyn's reply above, but you still are seeing this problem, you may need to use Task Manager to use End Task on the News Metro style application. You can do this by:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Open News to ensure that it is currently running/suspended in the Task Manager
    • Enter the Start screen
    • Click Desktop
    • Right click an empty space on the Taskbar
    • Click Start Task Manager
    • Select News
    • Click End Task

Then return to the Start screen and try to open News to see if it opens and works properly.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hello Edit,

Is this the only Metro app that is not working?
Please check other Metro apps to see if they are working after the PC reset.

For Metro Apps to work, you need to have the following:
    1) Your screen resolution needs to be at least 1024x768.
    2) Next, if you have turned off User Account Control, your Metro apps will not work.
You can check if UAC is enabled here: Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings
    3) Try using a Local account instead of a Windows Live ID account.

    4) If you are using an Windows Live account, the password cannot be greater than 16 characters.
If your password is greater than 16 characters, then enter in only the first 16 characters.

Please reply back with an update on your issue.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn
