Office Communicator and lmcompatibilitylevel RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Microsoft Office Communicator installed on a Windows 2003 server and found that it won't connect to LCS unless the lmcompatibilitylevel is set to a value of 2.  This works fine if I manually change the value under HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/lsa) but am finding that this value is getting automatically reset to 1, thus causing the login to LCS to fail.  I'm still trying to determine if group policy or McAfee EPO is causing the value to be reset.

On a Windows XP system, the lmcompatibilitylevel is set to 0 and Communicator runs fine.  It's only on 2003 Server that it will only run when lmcompatibilitylevel is set to 2.

Is there any way to allow Communicator to run on 2003 Server as it does on XP, where lmcompatibilitylevel is set to 0?
