how to use entity framework in vs2017 for old-timer? RRS feed

  • Question

  • i used entity framework (database 1st) ton of times in past on .Net 4.X

now I'm having problem to get it start in vs2017

I wanted to do all my data access stuffs in a class library.

I install (through nuget) EF 6.*, but when i intend to created the edmx (designer), i can't find this option.

I have a short dateline for this project, all i wanted to do is sql server data-access, and serve through classical aspx webform (4.5.*)

there is no need to concern with other platform, just purely windows iis and web app.

  • this issue is not much about entity framework, but vs2017.

thx for all the feedbacks, but i found the resolution.

what i wanted to do using running entity framework in a class library project, in pre-vs2017 way.

    to do this:

    - right click solution, add new project

    - "windows classic desktops" (seriously, "classic desktops"??? when does class library fall under desktop category!!!)

    - class library

then i can do craps as in "classical" .net way.
