Satellite Assembly in .NET RRS feed

    For what purpose do we need satellite assembly? We say that compiling a resource file will generate its satellite assembly. Whats the purpose of it? Can satellite assembly converts data from SQL db which is saved by default in English to any other language we specify? Whats the role of it in dynamic data.

    Satellite resource assemblies are used to localize your application, be it a web app, winform, etc.  .NET framework uses the hub and spoke model and follows a certain naming convention for the reource files.  Depending on the type of application you are writing you will either compile resources into dlls (satellite assemblies) or deploy the resource files themselves.  If you're interested in storing you resources in a database see this article Extending the ASP.NET 2.0 Resource-Provider Model, which is also a good article in general about how resources work in .NET.  Below are a few more articles you might find interesting:
