MSDN Priority Support Forum for Store Apps, Maps, etc. ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are there any? I don't see any in the list at http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/aa974230.aspx. I'm talking about the MSDN Priority Support forums, BTW.

While it's comforting that there's a Visual Source Safe Priority Support forum, it's a bit surprising there are (apparently) no Windows Store App, RT, Bing Maps forums. Perhaps MSDN hasn't heard about "the new stuff?"

  • This forum is for Bing Maps for Windows Store Apps. Those who have a Bing Maps license have access to the Bing Maps Enterprise Support team who provide high priority developer support. To get a license for Bing Maps you can contact the licensing team at maplic@microsoft.com

Thank you for your reply.  Yes, I'm quite aware that this is the forum for Bing Maps for Windows Store Apps. In fact I have an outstanding question posted here some time back; thus my quest for a priority forum. I'm already an MSDN subscriber (for which I paid substantial money) and have on other occasions enjoyed the benefits of priority support on those forums included in the group of MSDN Priority Support forums. The point was (and is) that when I went to review that list of forums I found NONE addressing the particular problems that Windows Store App developers might encounter.  I found this surprising (astonishing?) given Microsoft's "all out" push to promote developer activity in these areas.

In any case I appreciate the info regarding Bing Maps Enterprise Support team and will investigate that. In my case the app does not actually require a Bing Maps license and so I'm not inclined to spend additional money on an unnecessary license in order to gain access to support -- but I will investigate nevertheless. Ultimately I'll probably just use one of my MSDN support incidents to resolve my issue (which I believe to be a bug in the control itself). This thread is simply the result of my surprise (already described above.)

While I'm still interested in learning MS's logic on this issue I realize that I'm unlikely to get an answer and, in any case, this is probably not the appropriate venue so I will resist the temptation to Unmark as Answer your response. I'm sure it was given in good faith and does provide useful information.

      Thanks again for the response,

     Bill

  • If your issue is with one of the Bing Maps controls you would be best to post the issue here than to use your support incidents. Many of the developers of the Bing Maps controls monitor these forums and answer questions so they will be able to assist. Also, if it is a bug or a new feature request I can have it logged as needed.

Well I did post the issue here back on 12/16, but have received no responses at all though > 100 views. See http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bingmapswindows8/thread/13a8e401-b011-42ab-be07-a4b6d4131926. If someone would respond on this I'd be happy to try to do a small repro for it.

    Thanks,

     Bill

I did recently get a response to my original post and during my subsequent efforts to provide a simple repro discovered that the problem was with me rather than the control -- misunderstanding of the Tap vs. RightTap events. Thanks for your help in any case.
