WLK 1.6 - pnpdtest fails ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a few jobs that are failing under WLK 1.6 which boil down to issues with PNPDTest.

I have put together a batch file to run one of these tests isolated.  The output follows:

Pnpdtest started on 8/9/2012 at 14:13:46
    with command line:pnpdtest.exe  /preinstall /device "{B2683C6A-6445-4030-A3BE-BEEE68CA23B7}\VSCNODE\1&79F5D87&0&01" /log test1-log.txt

Start: Process Command line args, TUID=
End: Pass, Process Command line args, TUID=, Repro=Process Command line args

    Updating debug params

Pnpdtest started on 8/9/2012 at 14:13:48
    with command line:pnpdtest.exe  /skipinstall /remove /device "{B2683C6A-6445-4030-A3BE-BEEE68CA23B7}\VSCNODE\1&79F5D87&0&01" /noenddialog /log test1-log.txt

Start: Process Command line args, TUID=
End: Pass, Process Command line args, TUID=, Repro=Process Command line args

    Updating debug params

    Start: Device Not Found, TUID=
End: Fail, Device Not Found, TUID=, Repro=Device Not Found

I am at a loss as to what this failure is really about?  the filter driver is in the same directory and the utility.  My driver is loaded.  I have not found any relevant errors in the event log when running the above test.

Does anyone know what device it is referring to?

  • I think this is an issue caused by a bad inf file.  I noticed that the driver was not cleaning up correctly upon uninstall.  The result was that the dev node was changing every time the driver was reinstalled, and thus failing the test.
