Installing Team Explorer after SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We installed SP1 for Visual Studio on all of our development machines and are currently in the process of deploying Team Foundation Server.

Do we need to apply SP1 again on all development machines after we install Team Explorer on them?  I'd prefer to skip the 2 hour install if possible...

  • Yes.  If the Team Foundation Client bits were not on the machines at the time you installed SP1, then SP1 wouldn't have known to upgrade them.  Luckily, the TFC SP1 application is much quicker.

  • So, do I understand correctly, then, that the correct procedure to install TFC after installing VSTS 2008 and then VS 2008 SP1 is to: 1) install TFC for TFS 2008, then 2) reinstall VS 2008 SP1?
