BizTalk on Azure as IaaS polling SQL Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Current I use Receive Location - adapter - WCF-Custom with SQL Binding to poll a SQL Server database and retrieve data.

Now, We have BizTalk Server on cloud and sql server on-premise. Should I use the same adapter to connect to sql server on-premise, or use Azure On-premise data gateway + Logic apps . What is the equivalent for 'WCF-Custom with SQL Binding to poll a SQL Server ' for on premise sql server , and BizTalk on azure as IaaS.

    Regards,

  • First, is the Azure estate network connected (VPN, ExpressRoute) to the on prem network?

If so, sure, you can use the regular WCF SQL Adapter.

  • Hi,

If you are using BizTalk server then you could use the same WCF-SQL adapter to connect to on premise SQL database and in case if you want to use LogicApps then you would have to install the data gateway to connect to an on-premise resource (in your case to SQL Server), it is pretty simple to install and well documented.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/logic-apps/logic-apps-gateway-connection

    Cheers!!
