DBF file name and column names in SSIS RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

    I have as SSIS package which is used to access the dbf files(read/create).

    When I am trying to create a dbf I am facing one problem. To generate dbf files I am using jet 4.0 driver.

        Using create statement I am creating the dbf file,its creating dbf file, but the file name length and column names length in dbf is <=8 only. Its not allowing more than 8 characters. Even if we provide more than 8 characters it is taking only first 8 characters. Wy its taking 8 characters only for file name and column names? is it fixed max length? if I want to create more than 8 characters in file name and column name what is the solution?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Will need more technical info re how you created the MDF, e.g. the command and what you did in the SSIS;
    2. Did you use ADOX?
    3. Your post is of type information, not question.
