SQL Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am having trouble with a Visual Basic app i am producing, and I fear that it may have something to do with SQL permissions.  When I publish and run the app on any machine when I have looged on, I am able to successfully use my app and with SQL, but when logged in as somebody else, the application hangs?  Does anyone have any suggestions for me in regards to setting up SQL logins and schemas for users that will allow them access to database tables ond/or other SQL objects that will overcome this problem?

I am using SQL Server 2005 Developer and Visual Basic 2008 (Visual Studio Pro 2008).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Have you checked the sql server error log to look at the errors? Are you using windows user or sql login to log on to sql server? If you can use the application and others can't, probably you are using the windows user to log on sql server. And you can try to add other windows user to the sql server by doing " create login [windows_user_name] from windows" and grant proper permission to it
