Text to Speech on Windows 8 Store applications

    General discussion

  • So I realize that for now there is no built in text to speech API for Windows Store applications and I would have to use an online API (and from what I've read, preferably through Bing Translator).  It seems odd that both Android and iOS have this built in API, and that Microsoft has made many API's for text to speech (the SAPI line for example), but Windows Store Apps lack any support of this.  Is this in the pipeline for future updates?

  • Hi BuffaloCoder,

Thank you for your interest. We are aware that many people would like native speech API for Windows Store apps, but we cannot comment on future updates.

  • When I got it I felt sad. Cut off useful feature worked for 10+ year? Sad and funny that no direct indications abotu that and one can use a program from 2010 without mistakes but building fails with mysterious mitake saying nothing about unsupported features! And we've got it shortly after invitations to move for 2012 for shining future!
