  • Question

  • I am trying to scan something that has to be held in place with a polycarbonate panel. Will the Kinect sensor be able to scan the object through that?

    Thanks!

If the infrared beam cannot penetrate through the material then it will not be able to scan the object but as far as accuracy that depends on the material. You have a picture of said panel?

  • Kinect Fusion capabilities are based on the depth/IR sensor. As with any depth capturing capabilities, the detected IR data would depend on the material behavior. If it reflects IR light, that depth will be registered and if it absorbs it will cause an unknown value to be recorded.
