Problem installing Kinect 2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed Windows 8 on my computer and downloaded the SDK (March update version).
I think I have a problem with the Kinect driver. In Device Manager, I have a yellow warning next to WDF Petra KinectSensor Interface 0, if I try to run KinectService.exe nothing happens and if I run KinectStatus.exe I get the error "cannot initialise the sensor" and the led on the sensor is always off.

I tried the Kinect on a friend's laptop and it seems working.

I'm guessing to 2 possible reasons:
    - my computer is a bit old and it doesn't have USB 3
    - my computer is not fully compatible with Windows 8

How could I fix this problem?

Thank u in advance for your help.

  • If you don't have USB3, you'll need to get a computer with USB3.  That's pretty absolute.  You'll also need a decent video card.

If you go to the dev preview forums, which you should have access to since you have a Kinect for Windows v2 device, there are lists of compatible hardware other developers have aggregated.
