Outlook crashes on Set olApp = New Outlook.Application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I wrote a VBA script which moves mails to a folder which have the same name as the sender of the mail. It's been working great, but since a recent Outlook update the script causes Outlook to crash.

Right in the beginning of the script the line:

    Set olApp = New Outlook.Application

    causes Outlook to crash instantly.

    Windows Application log shows:

Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 16.0.8625.2121, time stamp: 0x59f8f1a8
Faulting module name: VBE7.DLL, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x59bae5ae
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00030e9d
    Faulting process ID: 0x3a9c
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d359efe9ed4e17
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE
    Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA7.1\VBE7.DLL
    Report ID: 129e9f6e-93a0-423c-85c3-0303100b08b0
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:

No other major changes have been made to my laptop. The latest Windows 10 updates have been applied.

Does anyone have a clue why this might happen?

    Cheers,

    Peter
