Removing Service Pack 2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am removing programs that in hopes to improve the speed of my computer, and I was wondering, if I already have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 already installed, can I remove Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2?

  • No, you cannot.

.NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5 are all ONE framework. 2.0 is the base, full, framework. 3.0 and 3.5 are extensions to 2.0, NOT full frameworks. SP's to 2.0 are needed for proper installation and execution of the extensions. My best advice: leave the .NET Framework installations on your computer alone.

.NET Frameworks are not programs, per se. They are managed environments used by many Windows applications you use regularly. For that reason, it is extremely unlikely that .NET Frameworks installed on your computer have anything to do with slow performance.
