FTP adapter problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey
I have a problem with the ftp adapter for BT2006. Every day some messages have been
suspended with the error message "The data send failed unexpectedly.", while other messages are
    transferred ok.
I have looked at the iis server and it seems that the ftp connections from biztalk are not disconnected
    when finished.
I put on a log on the ftp adapter, and I could not see a quit command beeing sent. However, in the iis log it looks
like there is a quit command.
Does anybody know if there is a problem with the adapter?
I tried to put a QUIT command in the "After put" section on the ftp adapter, but this only resulted
in a lot of suspended messages.
    Thanks!

  • So this sounds like the QUIT command is being sent before the message processing has completed. Here is a blog post that basically describes some of what you may be experiencing with the QUIT command: http://blogs.msdn.com/gzunino/archive/2004/06/10/153165.aspx.

  • Hi,

Check the OS of the FTP server you are running agianst. The FTP adapter is only supported on specific operating systems:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841478

There's a good chance that it wil work fine with other operating systems, but there may be issues with others. I hit porblems with using it agianst WIndows NT 4.

The BizTalk Developers Troubeshooting guide may also be of some help..

  • I actually found the problem later on. For some weird reason when we received a message that did not validate against
schema, the message was partly transferred by ftp and then failed with the data send failed unexpectedly.
We got no indication that the xml did not validate

    Hi there,

Is this list up to date?

We have a receive location using a FTP adaptor pointing to a server that was recently upgraded to Windows Server 2008.

Since the upgrade, a warning message is logged (message below) everytime the ftp location is polled - and once the error threshold is met, the receive location is stopped.

The adapter "FTP" raised an error message. Details "A failure occurred when parsing the remote folder listing. ".

When a file available (assuming the receive location is running) it is transferred across fine.

We had no problems polling the server prior to the upgrade.

    Thanks.

Can you let know which FTP server this is?  Is the issue resolved?
