create custom Mail Merge with VBA RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to create a mail merge that has a little more flexibility using VBA. I am new to VBA so I don't know if my approach is the best. I need to use multiple data sources which is a reason I can't use Mail Merge. Also there are elements, for example pictures and verbage, that will change for each record.

My plan was to iterate through the data set and use the Selection.InsertFile to insert a template and change each element. I was trying to use a Label control and just change the caption; however I cannot figure out how to change the label and how to identify what page the label is on to change.

Any guidance or a different approach would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Matthew

  • The only parts of the add-in that won't work in 2002 are the Ribbon Customizations and the ExportAsFixed format that is used to create pdf's.

While it does not have all of the capability of the MergeTools - 20121103, the Mergetools2003 that is on the same site, is compatible with 2002

  • Take a look at some of the code in the MergeTools – 20121103 Add-in that I created that you can download from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

  • Doug thank you for your post, unfortunately I have Windows XP running Word 2002. We really haven't used Word in the past and haven't had the need to upgrade. Until I can get my hands on a Win 7/8 box running Word 2010 is there another solution?

    Thank you,

    Matthew
