IoT Hub IP Address Changes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

According to the documentation from Microsoft, "Once you have created an IoT hub in an Azure region, the IoT hub keeps the same IP address for the lifetime of that IoT hub. However, to maintain quality of service, if Microsoft moves the IoT hub to a different scale unit then it is assigned a new IP address." (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/iot-hub/iot-hub-devguide-protocols)

Does this mean that Microsoft can change the IP address of the hub at any time to "maintain the quality of service" or does Microsoft only change the IP upon a manual request to change the scale unit?  And does that mean the IP will change when hub units are changed or just the service tier changing?

I'm concerned the IP will change without me knowing about it.  We can only whitelist mobile access via IP at this point, so it's important the IP doesn't change without prior knowledge.

    Thanks!
