  • SSIS needs to be installed off the SQL Server media, to be able to develop you also need the client tools - BIDS.

The books of this kind normally mention this at the very beginning.

Reading through my question it could have been clearer

This is the book I have worked through: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Server-2008-Analysis-Services/dp/0735626200

here is one for reporting services: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Server-2008-Reporting-Services/dp/0735626472/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b

here is one for 2005 integration services:http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Server-2005-Integration-Services/dp/0735624054/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1286914170&sr=1-1

What im looking for/asking about is a 2008 integration services book. If one exists or will ever exist.

  • Hi jameslester78,

It seems you are looking for a SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS) book.
If so, "Professional Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services " may be a good reference: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Microsoft-Integration-Services-ebook/dp/B003X09YPG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&m=A2PGEQNGZ8M97N&s=digital-text&qid=1287050583&sr=8-2

    Thanks,
