Adding Controls to Quick Access Toolbar - Word 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is not VBA but it is related to doing VBA addins.

    I have a word addin and I want to add a few controls to the Quick Access Toolbar when this addin is loaded.  I do not want the controls to appear when the addin is not loaded.  I successfully add a menu to the Addins tab when it loads.  I use the Custom UI Editor for MS Office.  I have searched for the answer without much success.  Here is what my XML looks like:

    <customUI xmlns="">
           <control idMso="CalculateNow" />
           <control idMso="HyperlinkInsert" />
        <tab idMso="TabAddIns">
          <group id="TripGroup" label="Trip">
            <menu id="TripMenu" label="Trip Programs">
              <button id="LabOnBt" label="Lab On"
                 screentip="Show Lab" onAction="LabOn"/>

    The stuff in <qat> is just an an example.  I really want a quick way to call certain macros.  Here is a pick with the editor.  Maybe someone has a simple and clear example.  All the ones I have seen are partial examples.

  • I finally figured it out.  Basically you put the commands on the Ribbon either on a user defined hidden tab or some other place then essentially place those commands on the QAT.  I knew there was a simple way to do it.
