Domain controller set after MSSQL installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

one of our customers had the great idea to make his MSSQL2005 Express server to a PDC! what now happened is that the MSSQL services don't start any more. the reason seems to be the wrong or missing security settings on files and folders of MSSQL.
any idea how i could make it up and running again very quickly? my idea is to un- and reinstall it and to reattach the databases.

  • The only thing I can think of is that I remember reading somewhere that if you install SQl Server on a Domain Controller, you can't use the Network Service account for the SQL server Service. Maybe try creating a dedicated service account for sql server.
