Bad Links for PowerPivot Sample Data RRS feed

  • Unfortunately with the closure of codeplex these links were all broken. I checked with some of the documenation team and they only found 26 references to this sample which they planning to go through and remove.

There is a version of the Contoso sample in a Power BI file here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46801 if you have Power BI.

Or if you have access to a SQL Server you could use this version of the data https://www.sqlbi.com/books/the-definitive-guide-to-dax/companion/

Or you could check out some of the samples on www.sqlbi.com as they provide sample files with most of their articles and often use a version of Contoso.

The companion content to their book does have a copy of Contoso as a PowerPivot model, but it is a 1.1Gb download as it has a lot of other content

  • Thanks, Darren.

As it happens, I bought the Definitive Guide this morning, and downloaded the files. And because I don't care about Power BI at this point, and I don't use SQL Server, I guess I'm good.

It's really too bad about the loss of the files. Having working examples of DAX documentation would have been very useful.
