VC6 is no longer supported. I suggest you switch to VS2005 or 2008 as soon as possible. There have been substantial bug fixes and feature additions in the newer versions.
I suspect, though, that the difference is in the libraries they've included, and the MFC is the most likely library not included in the introduction edition.
