Multiple Database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Did I misunderstand this or can I use more than one database in an Entity Model?

I just made the transition from LINQ to SQL to the Entity Framework and this was one of the reasons I made the transfer.

I have 2 tables in separate databases and I would like to define an association between them. Is this possible or do I have to make two comp0letely separate models for each database?

  • Hello Stijn,

    Thanks for posting here.

As I know, this is currently not supported. Every EDM is connected only to one database but we can include more than one EDM in the solution.
In such cases we can map to multiple data sources in our code (but we'll have more than one EDM). For defining an association between two tables in the different databases, I think that's currently not supported.

I hope this can help you.

    Have a nice day,
