Getting A Reference To The Ribbon in Word 2007 From an Application-Level Add-In RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to write an add-in for Word 2007 that looks at the Checked State of a RibbonCheckBox in a cutom group that I have added to the Home tab of the Ribbon.

I used the Ribbon (Visual Designer) to add the custom group. I added a button to the group that runs some code that I wrote. I have all of that working.

I also added two RibbonCheckBoxes to the custom group and all I want to do is to determine the Checked state of them but I can't seem to figure out how to get a reference to the main OfficeRibbon so that I can walk down the Tabs collection to the Groups collection to my custom Group and so on.

I have spent several, frustrating, hours now trying to find some documentation on how this is done. With no luck.

    The add-in is written in VB.NET using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 / .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would truly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Doug
