  • Running HCK 8.1 controller and client. Would like to change the controller to a different server box. Can the existing client be used with the new controller without loosing the current test results?

  • You want to move a client from one controller to another, but are concerned that you will loose the results on the controller that you are moving from?

You can uninstall the HCK client from your test system, and install HCK client from a different controller without problem.  As long as you do not delete the machine entry from a controller the results related to that machine will be unaffected.

If you are looking to move results from one controller to another, this is not possible.  You can create a package containing the results, and merge those with the results from the new controller.

    Hope that this helps.

  • Paul - thanks for your reply. However, the testing for the device connected to the client is not complete.

Remove and reinstall the Windows HCK Client

Do not remove the Windows HCK Client as the first step in troubleshooting Windows HCK Client problems.
If you reinstall the Windows HCK Client, any certification testing in progress is lost and you have to rerun all the tests in a new project.

Can the combined results package from two controllers apply to one device certification?

  • Hi Tartan42,

I guess you can merge the results had run on two different controllers.

If your test device has multiple targets for test items, First you need to run all of test items on first controller which you would like to merge. Then you can run other test items for different target on second controller.

You cannot remain "Not Run" items on both controllers and same version of HCK are required. I think it's useful way for different test places to merge test logs on different controller.
