    Hello

i am very new to Microsoft Reporting and planing to "write" my very first report today Smile I used CR till now but it seems like MSR is mutch better "integrated" into VS2005 so i ll give it a try.

But first i have some question i'd like to have answered before i start.

I need to display some MasterBig Smileetail.Detail (n:m:n) data in my report.

I have one Dataset with 3 tables Users, Events, User_Events

    This are the table definitions:

    Users:

    id

    username

    Events:

    id

    eventname

    User_Events:

    id

    id_user

    id_event

I fill the data as needed inside my code into the dataset and now i'd like to report a list of all events and for every event a subreport of all users for that event. Of course one user can be in more than one event.

Is it possible to realise something like this with MSR? And if yes what do i have to take care about?

    So long thank you.

I'll start doing my first steps with MSR now Smile

  • Ok

i did some searching now on MSR and Master-Detail implementation and just want to make sure i understood everthing right:

Is it right that the only way to realize such a function is to:

    1. Use subreports

    2. Use "nested data regions" where i have to merge all data into one table and then group by the items i need. I tried this way and it seems to work ok.

Is there no possibility to use relations defined inside a Dataset?
