How to update or reconfigure receive location RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of the receive locations in our biztalk server is using transport type as SQL. So say the URI is SQL://sqlserver18p/ABC1/ where SQL server name is sqlserver18p and database name is ABC1. We are planning to move ABC1 database from sqlserver18p to some other server say sqlserver20p. We have been told to use a DNS name which would get resolved to sqlserver20p. Say the DNS name is DNS20p which would get resolved to sqlserver20p. How do we update or re-configure our receive locations to point it to the DNS name. Do we have any knowledge article on this. Also, we have a login that is part of the below groups. Should we use that login to do the configuration? I myself is a part of the Biztalk Server Administrator group. Can I do the re-configuration.

    Biztalk Groups:-
    Biztalk Server Administrator
    SSO Administrator
    Wss Administrator
    Biztalk BAS Administrator

  • If you are BizTalk Server Administrator and SSO Administrator you can make the changes you need.

About the DNS name, you're already using a name.  Do they mean to use FQDN like server18p.mycompany.com?  You can do that through DNS, I am not sure if it's a great idea.  Changing locations in BizTalk is pretty easy, not sure if one more step makes it easier or harder.

From what I understand, you want a walkthrough on how to change the SQL address in the receive location.. ?

If you're already in the Biztlk Administration Console, Double click the receive location, Click configure, Under SQL Configuration, click the ellipsis in Connection String, Enter the DNS name of the new DB Server, select ABC from the drop down..Click test connection..if it succededs, ..Click OK 2wice.
