Disable device and Enable device compare(Win8 and Win8.1) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All:

Is there any change between win8 and win8.1?(USB device)

            Win8:

If I disable device and then enable device , the system will reset device.

            Win8.1

Do the same, the system just SET_CONFIGURATION to the device.

  • Enable/disable knows nothing of USB. Any difference in behavior that you see at the bus level is due to the client driver loaded on the device. Any problem you are seeing?

  • Under WIN8.1, If I use USB3.0 port. I disable/enable the device, the bus level will not reset device and send SET_ADDRESS to device. Then our device will not initial for some parameters. But if I use USB2.0 or USB3.0 with WIN8, the bus level will reset device and enum the device.

So I think  is it a bug of USB3.0 driver of WIN8.1 or the driver will just need to get description if I diable/Enable device ?

  • Yes, it is a bug in the USB 3.0 stack in 8.1. It will be fixed in RTM.
