Why is the Berkley Socket API not available for Metro apps/dlls? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we have an OS-independant C++ Framework for RFID-Readers, based on BSD (Berkley sockets). BSD is not supported by WinRT. Is there any technical reason for this? I think not, because Android and iOS support BSD. Windows, Windows CE, Linux and Mac OS too.

Microsoft recommend to use the Windows.Networking.Sockets. This might be practical for new apps, but not for existing large frameworks.

Is there realy no plan to add BSD for Metro-styled apps/dlls?

  • Markus,

This is unsupported for Windows 8.  I will forward your request.
